The objective of this research is to provide a computational assessment of a spoilable, composite tubular, under the typical working loads of a drilling riser, and the bending loads due to storage using a commercial finite element package. In order to facilitate coiling, the tube wall in this study has a complex sequence of a polyethylene liner, hoop-wound glad/epoxy sections within rubber, and an outer layer of unidirectional glass/epoxy reinforcement.
