This project study is intends to address current needs by developing a rigorous analytical procedure capable of reliably predicting the short-term behavior and strength of composite tubes designed for offshore applications considering delaminations and other defects.  This will be achieved through the use of appropriate material modeling, acceptable failure criteria and a formulation that accounts for large changes in the tube and delamination geometry.  In addition, the procedure will be validated by comparison with available experimental results and when then used to study the influence of the different parameters involved on the behavior.

The basic properties of the composite ply constituents and sets the ground for the mechanics used to model them are introduced.  The different modeling aspects of the constitutive behavior and strength of composite plies and laminates, are reviewed.

The various parameters affecting the structural modeling by surveying the theories, models and experiments related to the analysis of composite tubes and the consideration of delaminations and other imperfections are explored.  Furthermore, the complete formulation of the present analysis procedure in detail is covered. 
The analysis procedure developed is verified for prediction accuracy against available experimental results.
