The main objective of this work is to gain a better understanding of the different sources of nonlinearities and the importance of each effect on the dynamic behavior of a Spar Platform in deep water through a time domain analysis, as well as comparing with experimentally available data.  Specific objectives are:

  • Validation of model with experimental data (Basin test OTRC).
  • Parametric
    • Different kinds of waves (Monochromatic, Bichromatic and Irregular
    • Geometry of spar (Large Spar and Small Spar)
    • Current
    • Modeling of mooring lines (cables and springs).
  • Evaluation of some nonlinear effects
    • Drag Term
    • Evaluation of forces in displaced position
