Summary
The objective of this study is to design and analyze a riser coupling that may be cost effectively manufactured using current technology. All source of structural loading should be considered and either discounted or included in the model. A design and analysis method is established to yield accurate results. These tools are then used to develop an understanding of potential riser end-coupling designs. An optimized riser design for a given set of material properties and loading conditions is attempted.
