Report Title:
A Laboratory for Measuring the Axial and Lateral Load Capacity of Model Suction Caissons

Authors:
Elliot C. Mecham, The University of Texas at Austin

Report Date:
December, 2001

A tank of normally consolidated clay was prepared from kaolin slurry, and its in Situ properties were measured. A model suction caisson and instrumentation system were designed and constructed to measure axial and lateral load capacity. Preliminary results from axial load testing are briefly discussed.
