Report Title:
Workshop on Sustained Casing Remediation Practices

Authors:
E. G. Ward, OTRC and Andy Wolford, Risknology

Report Date:
August, 2004

OTRC representatives participated in several of the OOC/API team meetings and reviewed draft material to become familiar with the draft RP material and recommendations for SCP detection and remediation practices. The RP addresses sustained casing pressure in three types of well systems:

  • Surface (Traditional) Systems
  • Subsea Systems
  • Hybrid Systems

OTRC also worked with the team’s leadership and workshop session chairmen to design and plan the Working Sessions to gather and document input and feedback on the draft RP.

The Workshop was held on August 17-18, 2004 and over100 industry and MMS representatives participated. OTRC representatives facilitated the Working Sessions. The workshop was successful in gathering the desired input and feedback. The API/OOC team has since incorporated the input and feedback into a revised draft RP, and is proceeding to finalize and ballot the document.

MMS and OTRC representatives have since discussed some aspects regarding the use of the RP by the MMS. These discussions may lead to additional OTRC work, but further action will await the issuance of the RP and further MMS review.

Workshop results and API RP draft are available from API/OOC team.
